Amazon.com Hands-On Review

REVIEW: More than a basic tricycle, the Ready Set Go! Trike by Alex is a three-in-one system that grows with your child. Suitable for children 10 months and up, this cleverly designed toy starts out as a stroller trike that parents push, then converts to a freewheeling roller that parents can help control, and ultimately becomes a tricycle older toddlers can pedal and ride on their own.

Safety features include a parking break, non-slip pedals, and a steering bar for parents. For convenience, a rear-basket holds belongings and a bottle holder carries drinks.

Ready Set Go! Trike phase 1 Three-in-One Trike Grows with Your Child
For parents who want a training tricycle their children can use through the toddler years, the Ready Set Go! Trike offers a three-step system to ease children into riding on their own. Kids will be thrilled to pedal and cruise, and parents will appreciate the control this trike allows them.

Phase One: Push and Stroll
The Push and Stroll phase is for children 10 months and up. At this stage, caregivers steer the trike using the adjustable five-position handle. Safety features include a high-backed seat with headrest, a safety bar, and a seat belt. Supportive footrests fold down to support your baby's feet, so he or she can become familiar with the feel of pedals.

Ready Set Go! Trike phase 2
Phase Two: Start to Roll
When children reach 15 months of age, they'll be ready for the Ready Set Go! Trike's Start to Roll phase. At this stage, caregivers can remove the trike's headrest and safety bar. While parents still control the movement of the toy, they can pull out the clutch to unlock the handles and give their child a chance to steer.

Ready Set Go! Trike phase 3
Phase Three: Pedal and Go
The Ready Set Go! Trike's final phase is for children 24 months and up. At the Pedal and Go stage, caregivers can detach the steering handle, fold up the footrests, and push in the clutch for a complete trike with non-slip pedals and rubber wheels. Then, parents can watch as their newly independent cycler joyrides like the big kids.

Safety Features for Peace of Mind
The Ready Set Go! Trike is designed with safety in mind. A removable safety bar surrounds your child at the first stage, providing reinforced support so your little one stays securely in the seat. Additionally, a harness-style seat belt holds your child firmly in place, preventing unwanted side-to-side movement.

A parking break is built into the back of the Ready Set Go! Trike, so parents can easily halt the toy with one foot. Non-slip rubber wheels and pedals maintain traction, so riders stay on course.

Finally, a detachable sun canopy helps shield your child from the sun and easily adjusts to your preferred angle.

Ready Set Go! Trike Handle, Footrest, Basket, and Drink Holder for Convenience
During the first and second stages, parents and caregivers will appreciate the control that the trike's handle allows them. The five-position handle adjusts to your height, so you feel in complete control. For growing cyclists, a footrest folds down during the first phase, then folds up and out of the way for the second and third phases.

For added convenience, a tilting rear basket gives you a place to store belongings as you steer your child around the block. A drink holder at the front lets children bring their bottle or sippy cup along for the ride.

Quick Setup
The Ready Set Go! Trike has several parts, but it is relatively quick to assemble if you follow the directions. The trike is easiest to put together if two people can help--that way, one person can hold up the trike to keep it from rolling after the wheels are attached.

Be sure to firmly insert the two back wheels until you hear a soft click. Also, apply some force to the footrest's release button--it can be a challenge to engage. A standard wrench and an Allen wrench are included, but you will also need a Phillips screwdriver to complete the assembly.

This trike measures 27 by 18-1/2 by 39 inches (L x W x H) to the top of the handle.

What's in the Box
Ready Set Go! Trike, safety bar, removable headrest, canopy, basket, drink holder, standard wrench, Allen wrench, and instruction manual.

I assembled this trike for my nearly 5 year old daughter (who is motor delayed and only now learning to peddle a bike and steer at the same time). I can't speak to the baby settings, but at the oldest setting, this bike is awesome!

I totally thought that it this trike would be a piece of plastic garbage like so many other things out of China. I couldn't imagine how they could justify the price when Radio Flyer has nice metal construction trikes out there. Well, I'm eating my words. First of all, the bike is pretty sturdy. The wheels are wider than a lot of trikes. I've found that among a sampling of trikes, the Alex is as sturdy as a Fisher Price or Kettler (yes, this... Read more

This trike is well-designed, sturdy, and user-friendly! Everything is positioned well and you can tell that much thought has gone in to this product. It is made well and has held up very well under regular use by our 1-year old. Our only recommendation would be to put better tires on it. The plastic tires that it comes with are fine for indoor use, but don't work well for outdoor use.

Whoa! This is the Swiss army knife of preschool transportation. I have expected this toy to rock our son to sleep, fill his sippy cup and teach him his colors!

That being said, we found this toy to be a devil to put together, even for my mechanically minded husband. When asked about the educational value of this toy as part of the Amazon review, I wish I could have replied for us as parents...my husband certainly learned a great deal about the fiting together of parts.

This is a very durable, high quality set of materials, with an awkward design. Our son seemed to enjoy it well enough, but not so well that I would recommend this to other parents as a solution to eh problem of collecting multiple means of transportation/fun for their child as he/she matures.

Good try! Could be better.
