I purchased two Trunkis for my 3 and 5 year olds for a trip we were taking. Both kids took a tumble at first as it tends to tip forward, but once they got the hang of it that wasn't a problem. I also purchased the "saddle/purse" option and that is supposed to help make them sit back more - it is kind of a necessity since Melissa and Doug added the handles right where a child sits! The product is supposed to handle up to 100 pounds, but my 5 year old (48 pounds) was too big for it. She was too long and lanky and scooting along was awkward for her. After going halfway down the airport terminal with me pulling her, one of the wheels popped off. It snapped back on, but by then she was done. We ended up strapping these to our carry ons and hauling them - they became something of a nuisance. There should be a suggested age range - I would recommend them for a 3 year old (31 pounds) as mine rode on hers fairly well. They stow in an overhead nicely enough and are fairly easy to pull... Update - Melissa & Doug contacted me a supplied me a with a replacement Trunki. I am happy to report that the new Trunki works perfectly and without any issue with the latches. I will update the video portion of the review shortly. I have changed my rating from 2 to 4 stars (would have been 5 if it wasn't for my previous issues)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Melissa & Doug Trunki is a excellent idea that combines storage with fun. Our daughter loves riding her Trunki around our house (and presumably the airport if it lasted that long) and she loved how she could store her stuffed animals, band while the first trunki had issues with the latches #2 is operating perfectly!

A few things we like,

- It scooted along the floor with ease our daughter (age about 20 months) was able to ride just like her other riding... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars The best $40 spent on travel for kids!!!!, November 10, 2010

I bought this after seeing a 4 and 6 year old with it in the airport. My 2-year old absolutely loves this. It has made our trips through airports, even flight connections, painless. Sure, it's faster to take a child in a stroller or carrier, but with the Trunki, you get cooperation... and what's even better, a relaxed child by the time you reach the plane, who's had a chance to vent off some energy!!! My daughter will sit on it and push along with her feet, or at times, she will lift up her feet and I'll pull it, or sometimes, she'll walk and pull it herself. It's a slow, but sure process. Inside it, I store her toys and snacks and other things I need for the trip, including my laptop during the last flight. At our destination, she uses it to sit on it, as a small chair, so she can draw on the coffee table, etc. The best travel gadget/tool/luggage I have bought with a child! :)
